When we arrived, Jeff got to pin Karina's missionary tag on her. She was just beaming, excited to begin her journey. Mom and Dad had a bit of a hard time, but not for long. We know Karina will have no trouble diving right into the work!

Karina's addresses

While Karina is in the MTC, her address is:

Sister Karina LoAnne Coy
MTC Mailbox #186
ROM-BUC 0330
2005 N. 900 E,
Provo, Utah 84604-1793

Or, you can e-mail using a website called dearelder.com. You just need to know her box # (186) and the mission code is (Rom-Buc) and that her estimated departure date is March 30th.
Sending mail this way is free. Plus it is printed out and delivered every day at noon.

After Karina leaves for Romania, the easiest way to write to her is by writing on "dearelder.com", sending it to the Romania, Bucharest mission. They print it out and put it in the pouch mail. They print out the letters once a week on Thursdays.

But you can also send letters by pouch mail. This just costs a regular stamp. It is sent to Salt Lake City and then they deliver all the letters to the mission. When you write to pouch mail you can not send mail in envelopes because they add extra weight. You can only write on one side of a piece of paper. Then fold it up in thirds, tape it, and address and stamp it on the front.

The address for pouch mail is:

Sister Karina Coy
Pouch: Romania Bucharest Mission
P.O. Box 30150
Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0150

After Karina goes to Romania, you can send packages to this address:

Sister Karina Coy
Sos. Pipera nr.41 Et. 7
Sector 1, COD: 014254
Bucuresti, Romania

Please note that you cannot send money or any type of electronics. It will be stolen. The government goes through all the mail and those things will be confiscated.

My trip to the MTC

Monday, January 26th, Jeff, Karina and I (Janae) left to drive to Utah. It is always hard to get out of town! We spent the night in Grand Junction and then Tuesday morning we continued on. By the afternoon we stopped in Manti Utah and spent some time worshipping in the Manti temple. It is so beautiful. The temple workers gave us a tour afterward. It is a beautiful temple! We got to see the amazing spiral staircase, although Karina's eyes gravitated toward the antique piano that was there.

Afterward we finished our drive by arriving at Don and Penny's home in Highland around 5:30p.m. Penny served us a wonderful meal and then we went with them to the Timpanogas temple. We had a great reunion with other friends and family there. We went afterwards to Don and Penny's home and enjoyed visiting with everyone while we ate some pie and ice cream.

This morning, (Wednesday, January 28th 2009) Jeff and I took Karina to the mission training center. The mission president and his wife spoke to us (and all the other new missionaries arriving today). We shed a few tears, but mostly heald it together, and said goodbye.

We drove straight home, arriving around 9:00p.m. That was a long day. We are at the beginning of a new, smaller family now with Karina starting her mission, and Cherisse away at college.

On My Way

So here I am 2 hours and counting and then I'm going into the MTC to start learning my language. Pretty soon it will be "Romania, here I come!" So this will be a good place just for you to read my letters and see what's up. Love you all
